The Character Development Quest - Winter challenge

Sharpen your quill and unleash your creativity! The Dawn Lands LARP is proud to announce the Winter Character Challenge, a thrilling opportunity to delve deeper into your character's history and legacy.

The Challenge:

Throughout the winter months, from January 1st to April 1st, we invite you to embark on a journey of character development.

Unleash Your Inner Storyteller:

• Craft a Compelling Character Background:

  • Flesh out your character's past: their motivations, defining experiences, and relationships.

  • Where do they come from? What drives them? Who are the people who shaped them into the hero (or villain) they are today.

• Submit a Visual Representation:

  • Include a visual component with your submission:

    • A drawing or painting of your character.

    • A photo of yourself in costume.

    • A chosen image from the official Dawn Lands LARP photo library.

Deepen Your Character (Optional - 1 Extra XP):

• Expand Your Narrative:

  • Create a detailed family tree outlining your character's lineage and connections to other players in the Dawn Lands.

  • Write a more in-depth story about your character's adventures.

Design Your Legacy (1 Extra XP):

• Craft a Unique Heraldry:

  • Design a personal symbol (heraldry) that visually represents your character.

  • This symbol could be a badge, emblem, or a combination of meaningful imagery.

  • Traditional heraldry rules are welcome for inspiration, but not required.

  • For assistance with heraldry design, Sgt. Brannith Marius is available for consultations at a cost of 5 GP per symbol.

Share Your Masterpiece:

• Submit Your Work:

  • Submit your character background, story, image, and (optional) heraldry to Sgt. Brannith Marius at thedawnlandslarp@gmail.com OR

  • Private message Commander Vagus Marius or Aryellas Darkbloom. OR

  • Submit it via private message on Discord or Facebook. OR

  • Submit your entry on the #dis-me channel on the Dawn Lands LARP Discord server.

All submissions must be in text (via message or discord post), or email text, or microsoft word, or google doc. PDFs will not be accepted.

Rewards:

• 1 XP: All participants who submit a complete entry (character background/story and image) will receive 1 XP.

• 1 extra XP: Participants who include a family tree and/or extended character backstory will receive an additional 1 XP.

• 1 extra XP: Participants who submit a complete entry (character background/story and image), include a family tree and/or extended character backstory, and design a personal heraldry will receive an additional extra XP.

With your permission, your submitted work may be featured in various Dawn Lands resources, including:

• The online database

• The player handbook

• The World Anvil website

• Upcoming publications
