In-Game Date: Ranessa-Day, 1st Day of Granita, 8219 DC (Dwarven Calendar)

Real-Life Dates: Friday, October 9 to Sunday, October 11, 2026

Real-Life Location: Dr. Thomas Walker Park, Barbourville, Kentucky

In-Game Location: The City of Tiss, The Noble District, Isle of Tiss

After two weeks of desperate fleeing across an uncharted forest island teeming with prehistoric beasts and dinosaurs, the weary adventuring parties finally touched the shores of the Isle of Tiss. Stepping off the ships, they were greeted by crisp, pleasant autumn air and clear skies.

To mark their arrival and celebrate survival, a grand fighting tournament was held in the heart of the Tissian Noble District. Warriors from across the realm clashed in trial of steel and skill, but the festivities were cut short as the autumn sun dipped and encroaching darkness fell over the grounds.

The tournament met an abrupt and violent end when an unexpected shock rippled across the grounds: Koshka, a nimble catfolk rogue, launched a sudden, aggressive assault against Noble Lady Dalores Saxon, the master engineer of the Tiss Foundry Works. With perimeter security violently breached and tension spiking to a razor's edge, the marshals and arbiters immediately halted the bouts. Yet, as the dust settled and the guards secured the blood-stained lists, the high-born revelry could not be so easily contained. The evening pressed on with much-needed feasting to soothe rattled nerves. Aristocrats, mercenaries, and foreign travelers alike crowded into the great halls, indulging in a chaotic night of heavy meats, flowing spirits, and boisterous dancing that stretched well into the late hours of the night.

Of the Vision in the Shadow Vale

Even as the capital danced, deeper and darker cosmic currents stirred in the quiet hours. Eldigan, a celestial-born battle cleric and a devoted member of the household Grove of Yggdrasil, was visited in sleep by a profound and chilling vision sent directly by the Mórrígan. Within the ash-grey mists of the Hollow Realm, the Raven Queen revealed that the deity Pluto had been assassinated through powerful, dark sorcery and cast into a dark star by a conspiracy of two gods: the unknown shadow and Asmodeus, the Lord of the Ruby Rod. Bound by an infernal contract, the stolen covenant had been illicitly purloined by a Tissian surgeon of noble birth. The Goddess commanded Eldigan to unearth this hidden contract and present it to the world, laying bare the full treachery of the Dark Lord Vortex and Asmodeus before all living things.

Of the Storm, the Phantom Leaper, and House Pemberton in Turmoil

By the following morning, the pleasant weather vanished, replaced by a strong, steady, and relentless rain that soaked the cobblestones of the Noble District as adventurers, nobles, and city officials went about the work of the day.

As the first official court commenced, High Pontiff Orlando Stewart stepped forward to formally introduce the vampire diplomat, Lady Carmilla Varkov, to the assembly. In a moment of high mysticism, a vision of one of the legendary Tissian Founders manifested before the court. Acting with aristocratic grace as the Pontiff's herald, Lord Ashworth joined in welcoming all the newly arrived immigrants and adventurers to the island, while delivering a stern, unyielding reminder: no unlawfulness or defiance of Tissian law would be tolerated within the city walls. Furthermore, seeking to subvert foreign resistance, the High Pontiff privately approached the celestial-born Eldigan, offering her vast wealth and boundless riches if she would forsake her path and pledge her formidable service to the State of Tiss, an offer the battle cleric spurned with absolute disdain.

Chaos descended upon the high-born estates as a mysterious figure known as Spring-Heeled Jack began leaping across the rooftops of the Noble District, targeting high-ranking aristocrats. Believed by many to be a malicious fae creature or an elusive rogue, Jack polarized the city: while the Tissian authorities and nobility branded him a dangerous villain, the downtrodden peasants of the farming district whispered of him with reverence, viewing him as a folk hero. During his rampage, Jack struck a fatal blow, attacking and killing one of the city's nobles. Whispers and suspicions immediately circulated that Captain Percival Pemberton might be aiding the elusive phantom, though no concrete proof was ever brought to light.

Beneath the shadow of the murder, a quiet family drama unfolded within House Pemberton. Lady Sofia Lera Pemberton, the eldest daughter, had secretly slipped ashore upon the arrival of the ships. Ten years prior, she had snuck away during the last bicentennial sacrifice, and now she was forced to return to the heart of the empire. Her motives were divided: Captain Percival Pemberton desperately searched the city to find and protect his sister, while Sofia sought only to hide in the shadows to keep her brother safe from retribution.

Meanwhile, Lady Beatrice Pemberton, the youngest and most fiercely ambitious of the siblings, pursued a darker agenda. She hunted for Sofia with the intent of turning her over to be sacrificed. With Sofia permanently removed and her older brother perpetually absent on distant sailing expeditions and naval missions, Beatrice aimed to position herself as the de facto head of House Pemberton.

Cunan Crann’s Service in the Capital

Cunan Crann answered the call early in the day, accepting a post to guard Lord Edmund Ashworth through the damp thoroughfares from the predations of Spring-Heeled Jack, successfully fighting off the leaping phantom a total of five times before being eventually dismissed.

During his watch, Cunan extended his protective duties to guard Captain Percival Pemberton and escort him safely to court. Throughout this time, Cunan also befriended and actively aided the Crimson Ledger Guard in safeguarding the city against opportunistic thieves and those who sought to sow civic chaos.

Of Business, Diplomacy, Inquisitions, and the First Court

True to his reputation as a shrewd entrepreneur, Lord Edmund Ashworth traversed the bustling quarters of the capital, actively recruiting bands of capable mercenaries and free-blades to bolster his burgeoning mercantile shipping ventures. Meanwhile, within the hushed halls of the municipal archives, Lady Clara Harrington assumed direct charge of the grand library. Aided by Lady Beatrice Pemberton, she worked tirelessly to guide and accommodate a delicate and perilous political guest: Lady Carmilla Varkov, an aristocratic vampire diplomat dispatched from the distant Court of Lullin to negotiate formal pacts with the state.

Elsewhere in the winding streets, High Inquisitor Gideon Thornfield and his Crimson Ledger Guard found their lawful hands entirely full. Before the second court convened, the city was plagued by a relentless wave of predatory attacks, brazen thefts, and unlawful murders perpetrated by a notorious gang of young dwarven hooligans styling themselves "The Snack Pack." High Inquisitor Gideon Thornfield led the men of the Crimson Ledger Guard nobly to suppress the disturbance, but the delinquents proved frustratingly persistent. Though the inquisitors struck them down time and again, the young dwarves repeatedly cheated permanent rest, finding swift resurrection through the dark interventions of the Wanderer of the Veils, a fallen angel who operated outside the grace of the Celestial Realm. It was then that the High Inquisitor kindly requested that the wanderer increase the price of her services, and approached the blacksmith and commanded her to do the same.

Of the Judge of Law and the Street Assassination

Amidst the swirling tensions and rising sedition of the capital, the stern figure of the Judge of Law moved through the cobblestone alleys as an unyielding pillar of jurisprudence. Roaming the city wards at the behest of the state, he lent his formidable authority to Inquisitor-Advocate Gideon Thornfield and the Crimson Ledger Guard, maintaining the ironclad peace and dispensing swift, unblinking arbitration whenever the social fabric threatened to fray.

Yet, the absolute enforcement of the Lex-Sanctum drew the daggers of the lawless. In the height of the municipal unrest, a brazen assassination attempt was launched against the Judge upon the public thoroughfares. Struck down in broad daylight, he was left lying upon the blood-slicked stones at the very edge of mortality. But the cold calculus of the state was not so easily snuffed out; the highly skilled noble surgeon Raven Darkwood was rushed to his side, expertly stitching his grave wounds and pulling him back from the precipice of the abyss. Having fully recovered from the near-fatal trauma, the Judge returned to his sacred duties with renewed severity, standing immovably beside High Pontiff Orlando Stewart during the high courts to shield the primate of Asmodeus from harm and ensure that the sovereign's decrees went unchallenged.

Of Whispers, Foundry Theft, and the Surgeon's Healing Hands

In the shadowy alcoves of the metropolis, mystical forces moved with impunity. Nymtyese the Whisperer of Desire, an entity of infernal provenance, wandered the plazas offering dark counsel, while her companion, the fallen angel known as the Wanderer of the Veils, ministered tenderly to the broken, granting resurrection to the fallen for a modest tithe. Concurrently, Shourri the druid maintained an impeccable reputation as an honorable merchant, dispensing rare draughts and fortifying brews under official dispensation from the Church of Asmodeus.

Among these wandering figures moved Silvain Merrilin, known to the wider world as the Ledger-Breaker and to his homeland as the Ink-Stained Exile—a celebrated bard and former low-level noble of Tiss. Traversing the cobblestones alongside his steadfast companion, Shourri the druid, Silvain played his drums and raised his voice to invigorate the weary town with vibrant music, though he remained an outcast among his own kin.

During this period of intense municipal strain, Lady Dolores Saxon worked tirelessly within the Clock Tower Foundries to forge armaments and advance the technical capacities of the Tissian state. Yet, her efforts were severely undermined by criminal elements; many reckless hooligans broke into her workshops to siphon volatile chemicals and steal vital project components. Whispers echoed fiercely through the alleys that much of this pilfered ordnance was funneled directly into the hands of the phantom saboteur, Spring-Heeled Jack. Amidst the mounting injuries and street skirmishes, the highly skilled noble surgeon Raven Darkwood operated around the clock at his local clinic, stitching wounds and successfully repairing scores of battered adventurers throughout their time upon the island.

Seizing the momentum of the courtly diversion, Baron Ar'Calima Crann, liege lord of the Grove of Yggdrasil, stepped forward alongside his companions to challenge the High Pontiff in a duel of theological wits and intellectual mastery. Yet, the elvish paladin’s righteous fervor proved entirely unavailing against the towering intellect and divine inspiration channeled directly to the Pontiff from the Ruby Rod of Asmodeus.

Beneath the dignity of the court, more desperate maneuvers succeeded. Raven Darkwood, the noble surgeon of Tiss who had acted as an operative to purloin the dreaded Asmodeus-Vortex Concordat from the legal archives of the Clock Tower, sought out Shourri the druid. Provided with a wondrous alchemical tincture that transformed his human frame into that of an amphibian, the surgeon slipped away into the marshes, evading the telepathic dragnet of the state. Simultaneously, the Barghest, the monstrous Black Dog of the Moors, terrorized the outlying roads, imposing a harsh financial lesson upon careless travelers before melting back into the mist.

Of Restless Founders, Clan Gren's Heirloom, Sofia's Deliverance, and the Ultimate Sacrifice of Lady Beatrice

The hallowed ground of the Founders' Graveyard proved equally restless. Henry Keating, the resolute master-at-arms of Ravensbrook whose soul had been violently cast adrift from the shattered underworld vaults of the slain deity Pluto, roamed the perimeter fog in a state of profound psychological fracture, challenging haughty adventurers to formal duels of steel. Beside him wandered the intelligent zombie of Finley Jonah Harrington, the realm's premier woodsman, who sought only his descendant Lady Clara and the quiet comfort of his felling axe.

Amidst the municipal archives, members of Clan Gren made a startling discovery: a great and powerful family heirloom of priceless artifact-value was currently on display within the Tissian library. Following several tense and failed attempts to recover their ancestral treasure through stealth, diplomatic negotiation prevailed, and the artifact was formally traded back to Clan Gren as a gesture of friendship and good faith from the people of Tiss.

Concurrently, the fugitive noblewoman Lady Sofia Lera Pemberton successfully navigated her perilous exile. Aided by discreet adventurers whom she covertly hired, she acquired the necessary arcane unbinding scroll from the capital library and safely conveyed the sacred skull of her fallen companion, Jessica Renee Monaghan, to the Founders' Graveyard, finally laying her dearest friend's restless spirit to rest.

As the second court convened, the web of statecraft snapped shut. High Pontiff Orlando Stewart bestowed high honors upon Inquisitor-Advocate Gideon Thornfield, before turning the cold calculus of the state toward the preservation of the realm. By the unyielding decree of the Lex-Sanctum, Lady Beatrice Pemberton, having fallen from political grace, was formally selected as the oblated progeny to fulfill the decennial tithe.

At the hour of three in the afternoon, a solemn and immaculate funeral procession wound its way toward the craggy, wave-lashed feeding ledge of Kaelstrasz the Tempest-Bound, the colossal storm dragon whose ancient, binding pact with Asmodeus guaranteed the island’s meteorological shield. Lady Beatrice, displaying a chilling resolute fortitude, accepted her fate with absolute duty and honor so that her lineage, her house, and her god might prosper. Delivered to the razor-sharp talons of the leviathan, her sacrifice was consumed, and instantaneously, the violent gales that choked the harbor subsided into a heavy, unnatural calm.

Of Ledgers, Defaulters, and the Inquisitorial Ledger: A Report from the High Inquisitor

During our sovereign stewardship upon the Isle of Tiss, the Crimson Ledger Guard labored tirelessly to maintain the sanctity of the balance sheet, successfully levying and collecting numerous mandatory fines from wayward adventurers whose infractions threatened the city's financial and civic equilibrium. Yet, our vigilance extended far beyond mere coin and accounting. Through the arcane sensitivities of our office, my captain of the guard detected the unmistakable, lingering stench of the slain deity Pluto's underworld magics clinging to the elvish paladin, Baron Ar'Calima Crann; though he stood within the sacred precincts of Pluto's treasure room, a formal inspection revealed he was not currently in possession of the hallowed crown and sword.

Frustrations likewise plagued our intelligence operations regarding the high-stakes security breaches; despite our best efforts, no tangible headway was made in recovering the illicitly purloined contract between the Dark Lord Vortex and Asmodeus. Nevertheless, our iron discipline yielded notable victories in the field. When the notorious phantom Spring-Heeled Jack ran amok through the Noble District, our stalwart Crimson Ledger Sergeant, Rasputin Krieg, successfully apprehended the leaping scoundrel upon the cobblestones, though the rogue miraculously slipped our bonds and evaded final justice through illicit means. Furthermore, when the prized family broadsword of Clan Gren was audaciously stolen from safekeeping by the disruptive dwarven rabble known as "The Snack Pack," it was recovered and returned to Grand Library of Tiss through the sharp-eyed diligence of Sean Baker, a promising rookie of the Crimson Ledger Guard.

Of the Peasant Uprising and the Wrath of the Dragon

The ink of the sacrifice had scarce dried upon the ledger when the smoldering discontent of the lower wards erupted into open insurrection. An unwashed, chaotic mob comprising chaotic adventurers, villainous immigrants, and cutpurse rogues surged out of the farming district to challenge the aristocratic hegemony. They hurled themselves directly against the shimmering hammers, piercing crossbows, and iron discipline of the Crimson Ledger Guard, commanded by the unyielding Inquisitor Gideon Thornfield. At the end of this state of the battle there was even a wave of mercenary goblins that attacked the crossbow line.

Though the lines of the Crimson Ledger Guard fought with heroic obstinacy, the sheer weight of the rabble overwhelmed the noble defenders. Emboldened by their chaotic momentum, the mob committed an act of supreme sacrilege: they turned their irregular steel and spellcraft upward, launching a brazen assault against Kaelstrasz the Tempest-Bound itself. Amidst the deafening roar of battle, Silvain Merrilin’s drumbeats once more rolled across the crags. While the rebellious, unwashed masses fancied his rhythms a battle-march to inspire their insurrection, the cognisant nobility and the steadfast men of the Crimson Ledger Guard understood the deeper truth: the exile’s drums were beating a desperate, defiant measure for them, for the honor of the city, and for the wounded dragon defending their realm.

For an entire evening and deep into the pale light of the following morning, the cataclysmic engagement shook the foundations of the Isle of Tiss. The Lightning-bolt breath of the dragon scorched the ground and the dragon’s massive claws and tail battered the combatants with great force. When the tumult finally abated, the great dragon defender lay grievously wounded upon its ledge, its true condition shrouded in ominous uncertainty.

Witnessing the divine guardian brought low, a profound terror seized the heart of the city. As a monstrous, ink-black storm bank boiled upon the northern horizon, the ringleaders, rogues, and opportunistic mercenaries who had spearheaded the riot broke and fled the island in disarray, while others traveled to the forest of the west of the island or hid out in the Farming District. The Isle of Tiss stood once more upon a razor’s edge, its ledgers blood-red, its dragon silenced, and its sovereign contracts whistling in the gale.
