Winter XP Challenges 26/27

We have some brave souls that have volunteered to oversee these winter XP challenges, they are known as the Tissmas Taskmasters, that is Cinnamon Buns Gren (Endelda) and Lucia Valeria Strongfellow Metellus (Brittany).
The Winter Wardrobe
Dates: October 26th, 2026 to January 30th, 2027
Reward: 1 XP
Tissmass Taskmaster: Cinnamon Buns Gren
The biting chill of the Dawn Lands winter spares no traveler, and survival on the road requires preparation. Modify, upgrade, or craft a piece of cold-weather or winter gear for your LARP kit. This can include adding fur trim to your cloak, fabricating a heavy woolen doublet, stitching extra insulation into your armor backing, or adding authentic frost and snow weathering to your equipment.
To complete this challenge, submit a clear before and after photograph of your character's newly upgraded winter kit along with a write up describing the craftsmanship to the Tissmass Taskmaster Cinnamen Buns Gren through the official Dawn Lands LARP discord channel or email at MsCinnamonBunsGren@gmail.com
Tales by the Hearth
Dates: October 26th, 2026 to January 30th, 2027
Reward: 1 XP
Tissmass Taskmaster: Cinnamon Buns Gren
As the snow piles high outside and the freezing winds howl across the world, adventurers gather wherever warmth can be found. Write a short fictional vignette (between 200 and 500 words) from your character's perspective, capturing a moment sitting by a winter campfire, a bustling tavern hearth, or inside a drafty tent during a freezing night on the road. Reflect on past trials, share ghost stories, or describe the quiet maintenance of your gear as you wait out the storm.

The Long Night’s Watch
Dates: October 26th, 2026 to January 30th, 2027
Reward: 1 XP

The shorter days and long, eerie nights of winter weigh heavily upon the soul. Write a short journal entry or poem from your character reflecting on the chill of winter, the fading warmth of the year, or how your specific culture and hometown traditionally celebrates, endures, or dreads the dead of winter.

The 100-a-Day Challenge
Dates: October 27th to December 4th 2026.
Reward: 1 XP
Health Warning: Before beginning any new physical exercise regimen, consult with your physician and ensure you have medical clearance to participate.
Participants in this challenge must commit to completing 100 physical repetitions per day. You CANNOT mix and match exercises; you must choose one specific activity from the approved list below for your daily routine.
Because doing one thing repeatedly hones true mastery while mixing diminishes the effect, you must stick exclusively to your chosen discipline, though the 100 repetitions can be spread out over the course of the day. Choose your daily discipline from the following approved list:
100 pushups per day
100 squats
100 sword or weapon strikes (controlled and targeted)
100 stomach crunches
100 lunges.
100x50 steps per day (past your usual steps, so not just in your daily routine but an actually seperate walk)

The Hearth & Workshop Crafting Challenge
Dates: October 26th, 2026 to January 30th, 2027

A true adventurer is never without the tools of their trade. For this challenge, craft something tangible for yourself, a physical item, prop, gear piece, or accessory that your specific character would actively use in-game during an event. To complete this challenge, submit a photo of your finished handcrafted item along with a short description of what it is and how your character utilizes it in the field.

The Veteran’s Welcome Crafting Challenge
Dates: October 26th, 2026 to January 30th, 2027
Reward: 2 XP

Building our community and supporting newcomers is the truest hallmark of an experienced adventurer. For this challenge, craft an item by hand (purchased items are not eligible) intended specifically for a new player. A new player is defined as someone who has attended only one event (before Tissmas of January 2027) and is not a legal family member of yours. Alternatively, you may craft the item for a prospective future player and gift it to them at the next live event.
To complete this challenge, you must document both the creation process of the crafted item and provide proof of its transfer to the recipient. Please note that while the item must be fully completed by the January 30th end date, the 2 XP will not be officially awarded until the item has been physically handed over to the new player. Rules & Reflection Challenge
Dates: October 26th, 2026 to January 30th, 2027
Reward: 1 XP

Survival on the field requires more than just physical steel; it demands a thorough understanding of the rules of the game. For this challenge, participants must write a comprehensive report detailing their own understanding of the combat rules of the Dawn Lands LARP and why those rules are vital for fair and immersive play. The report must be at least two pages long (at normal font) and must use at least one of the following approved topics: basic combat, shields, weapon use, cultural abilities, class abilities, how armor works in the the Dawn Lands, or scrolls and potions use. This must also include a well thought out question or request to clarify something that the combatant does not understand.
To complete this challenge, submit your completed two-page report by the January 30th end date.

The Trial of the Shieldwall: Combat Mastery Exam
Dates: October 26th, 2026 to January 30th, 2027
Reward: 1 XP
Eligibility: Can only be completed once per PLAYER.

True mastery of the battlefield begins before steel ever meets shield, it starts with an unyielding grasp of safety, combat protocol, and the laws of engagement in the world of Shiandria.
For this challenge, test your knowledge of strike zones, armor ratings, spell packet calls, and marshal standards by taking the official combat examination. Completing this trial sharpens your rules awareness and ensures safe, immersive, and honorable combat for everyone across the field.
How to Access: Find the official exam online at the Dawn Lands Combat Test.
How to Submit: The exam is NOT submitted directly through the website form. Once you have answered the questions, take clear screenshots or snap photos of your completed answers with your phone, and Submit it to the Tissmass Taskmaster Lucia Valeria Strongfellow Metellus through the official Dawn Lands LARP discord channel or email brittanycollins324@gmail.com. with your character name and mundane name in the subject line.
