Name: Anera Roxton
Title: Dock Mistress of Port Aethelgard
Culture: Dawn Lander (Thazia)
Current Location: The Docks / Harbormaster’s Office
Background & History
The Salt of Thazia Anera was born in the coastal region of Thazia, a land defined by its relationship with the sea and its struggle to maintain identity under the weight of foreign trade. She grew up with the rhythm of the tides in her blood and a deep-seated wariness of any man carrying a ledger or wearing a Syndicate sash.
The Tissian Occupation She arrived at the island as a young lady when it was still under the direct, heavy-handed control of the Tiss as the Vell Annex. During those years, she survived by becoming more efficient and more unshakeable than the Tissian overseers who tried to break the local spirit. She worked the docks as a laborer, rising through the ranks not through favor, but through an iron-clad competence that even the Syndicate couldn't ignore.
The Change of Flags When the island was officially sold and transitioned into Port Aethelgard, Anera welcomed the shift to the Alliance of Dawn Lords with a quiet, fierce pride. Finally, the flag flying over her harbor was her own. However, she is a realist; she knows that while the Alliance holds the title, the Tiss still hold the debt. She was appointed Dock Mistress because no one else knows the berths, the currents, or the hidden corners of the harbor as well as she does.
Personality & Role in the Event
Stern, Not Cruel: Anera is a woman of few words and zero nonsense. She can be perceived as "mean" because she values the safety of her harbor above the feelings of travelers. She will bark orders until a sailor’s ears ring, but it’s always to prevent a catastrophe.
The Reluctant Enforcer: She harbors a deep-seated loathing for the Tissian Syndicate and their predatory "contracts." However, Anera believes that the only thing keeping the island from slipping back into full Tissian control is the strict adherence to the law. She will enforce an unjust rule if it means keeping the Syndicate from having a reason to intervene, though she does so with a visible, gritted-teeth reluctance.
The Gatekeeper: For the survivors of the Crimson Harvest, Anera is the first person they meet. She is the filter through which all cargo—human or otherwise—must pass.
A Message from the Dock Mistress (for the survivors)
"Step lively and keep the gangplank clear. I’ve heard what happened in Lullin, and while you have my sympathies, sympathy doesn't dock a ship or secure a line. You’re in Port Aethelgard now. This is a place of order.I don't care much for the 'red wax' and the Tissian shadows hanging over this island any more than you do, but as long as you're on my waterline, you follow the rules. Keep your fires in the pits, your blades in their sheaths, and your business out of the way of the working crews. If you need a friend, find a tavern. If you need to stay out of the brig, listen to me."— Anera Roxton, Dock Mistress
