Experience Points (XP)

Experience points are attached to the player, not their character. Experience points are awarded for each event participated in, for volunteering at events as additional help, for completing quests in game, and for completing “side quests” or “challenges” out of game (such as learning or practicing a skill, crafting items for the next event, or performing a community service). Experience points are awarded at the end of each event, and if you level up, your new level will take effect at the beginning of the next event you attend. Multiple levels may be acquired in a single event if you earn enough XP.
Side quest XP is earned on the end date of the activity and is applied before the start of the next event.
All characters start at Level 1 and there are a maximum of 10 Levels. Each class has its own list of abilities and perks that change as you level up.
As an example, it currently requires 6 XP to level up from Level 1 to Level 2. During your first event, you play as Paladin, earning 1 XP. You also volunteer to help clean up after a dinner feast, earning 1 more XP. Between your first and second events, you take part in two side quests for 2 XP each, earning 4 more XP. Since you have acquired a total of 6 XP, you will begin at Level 2 for your next event attended.

Spectator/Traveler/non player: 0 XP
Adventurer (PC): 1 XP
NPC/Monster: 2 XP
Administration: 3 XP
Side Quest: 1-3 XP
Volunteering: 1-3 XP

Changing Class and Culture
We hope that you are happy with your character, but if you feel you need to change characters, that’s ok. You get one free change of character class or culture before you reach 3rd level. After that you must pay an oracle a large sum of in-game currency to conduct a ceremony to change your class or culture.
