Questing and Loot

Only items and in-game currency that are “lootable” can be moved or taken from their

Questing, Money, and other in game aspects to the Economy of the Dawn Lands LARP.

original location. Any items or in-game currency which are not explicitly lootable should not be moved or taken. If a quest item is lootable then it will be specified within the quest details. Items wrapped with a red cord are also considered lootable. If a quest item is not listed, or an item does not have a red cord then it is not lootable and you should leave it where you found it. Please note that most NPCs and monsters in the Dawn Lands do not drop lootable items or in-game currency (unless otherwise stated).

In-Game Money and Items

Players begin each event with a certain amount of in-game currency. A player’s starting coinage varies depending upon the player’s culture and class (along with possible household perks).

The only currency that can be accepted by in-game merchants, services, and activities is official Dawn Lands LARP currency. No outside currency will be accepted.

There may be vendors who also sell real world items and goods that have no bearing on gameplay. In this case, real money is used to purchase these merchants’ items and goods.

IOUs

To facilitate smoother gameplay, the Dawn Lands LARP often utilizes a paper IOU system for distributing rewards. This system streamlines the process for quest contact points, NPCs, and others who provide rewards, ensuring that players receive their due without unnecessary delays. Players are strictly prohibited from forging IOUs. Forgery is a serious offense and may result in expulsion from the game. The IOU system is designed to enhance the game's flow, and we appreciate players' cooperation in upholding its integrity. Tampering with the system only creates more difficulties for everyone involved.

Players can redeem their IOUs for coin by turning them in to the banker at any point during the event, or to a member of the administration at the end of the event.

Taking Items and the Red Ribbon Rule

In the Dawn Lands LARP, respecting each other's property is essential. Here's how we handle taking items:

The Red Ribbon Rule: Look for the red ribbon! Items adorned with this crimson ribbon are considered "unclaimed", “lootable”, or "up for grabs." These can be freely taken by any player. However, to maintain clarity and avoid confusion, players must keep the red ribbon on the item until told otherwise by administration. This visual cue ensures everyone knows the item is fair game.

No Stealing: While some cunning tactics and playful bartering may be encouraged, stealing from other players is strictly prohibited. This includes items without a red ribbon, and of course, in-game currency. Our LARP thrives on a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
