Libelle of Lamb Weyr

High upon the lonely slopes of Mount Lamb, far above the breaking of the clouds, there dwells Libelle. She is of a mixed and ancient lineage, born of a folk whose ancestors bore the great name of Dragon, and she is called by those who know her Lady Libelle of Lamb Weyr. In older days, the hearts of Men were not always kind, and their cruelty forced her kindred into deep seclusion. Among the sons of Men, tales are still whispered of the Melungeon people—strange stories of a folk of mingled blood and multiple ethnicities who hid themselves in the high crags until the dark pigment faded from their progeny. Yet the other half of that tale remains untold by Men. It speaks of a different species entirely: of Dragons who fled into the wilderness, choosing to dilute the grand traits of their blood so that mortals might cease to brand them as monsters.

Lady Libelle stands now as the sixth generation of her line. At long last, after the passing of many seasons, her kin may walk among Men with only fleeting glances of suspicion. By no means does she wear the true guise of humankind, yet the world has grown more accepting of her form. In the dim twilight of a room, her stranger features are easily muted; the faint trace of her remaining scales is hard to discern, and though her horns are ever present, the world has learned to look past them. She is a lady who carries herself with great dignity and grace—her horns polished to a shine, her hair and raiment immaculate, and her great wings folded neatly against her back. Yet let no one be deceived by her courtly grace, for she is fiercely proud of the blood that flows within her veins. She has looked into her own heart, accepted her nature, and found a fellowship of true friends who honor her kind. She is a dragon, she is a daughter of earth, she is Melungeon. She is Lady Libelle of Lamb Weyr.
