Bonus Gold: +10 Extra GP
Royalty Points: 20
Household Standing & Lore: Clan Black Root is a battle-forged household built upon one of the most famous and tragic romances in the history of the Dawn Lands. Its leadership centers on the legendary Norse barbarian champion Thordic Strongfellow and his wife, the Reman battle cleric Valeria (Lucia). During the Crimson Harvest at Lullin, Lucia fought valiantly against the bloodthirsty Vampire Court to protect her allies before being surrounded and slain. Thordic, who was away campaigning against the ancestral Jotun giants in the far North, abandoned his war without hesitation upon hearing of her fall. Driven by unyielding devotion, he braved the dark gates of Lullin, reclaimed her fallen body, and carried her across the realm to a sacred Temple of Jupiter in New Rome. There, after paying a steep, unknown sacrifice to the gods, Valeria was restored to life. Today, Clan Black Root stands as a sworn mortal enemy of the Vampire Court, combining Norse martial fury with Reman divine clerical power.

House Marius
Overview & Mechanical Standing: Within the rules and structural framework of the Dawn Lands LARP and TTRPG, House Marius holds the prestigious rank of a Duke-tier Household. However, it exists only nominally as an active player household on the field. The vast majority of its members serve behind the scenes as Game Administration, event volunteers, logistical coordinators, merchant organizers, and high-level story NPCs, though members occasionally step onto the field as active player characters during major campaign events.
Liege Lord / Patriarch: Brannith Marius (Bryan S. Roberts) – Duke
Royal Title: Duke
Royalty Points (RP): 100
Household Perks (but not used): Charter, Wealthy, Stables, Smith, Fortress, Training Hall, and Scroll Library.
Out-of-Game Origins: Out-of-game, House Marius possesses a rich, multi-decade history that predates the creation of the Dawn Lands LARP:
Martial Arts School: The household originally formed as an outgrowth of a regional martial arts school, focusing on martial discipline, physical conditioning, and weapons training.
SCA Household: Transitioning into historical combat and re-enactment, the group formed an official Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) household under the name House Marius.
SCA Shire: As its membership grew across regional tournaments, melee battles, and arts sciences competitions, House Marius expanded to form an official SCA Shire.
Dawn Lands Foundation: Ultimately, the leaders and veterans of House Marius laid the organizational foundation, rulesets, and physical infrastructure for the Dawn Lands LARP and TTRPG system.
In-Game Lore & History:
The Migration Through the Emerald Lands: Although ancient lineage traces their ancestry back to historical Earth/Roman roots, House Marius did not arrive on Shiandria through the same gateway portal as the main wave of the Imperial Reman Republic. Instead, the original Marius line passed through a gateway portal that deposited them deep within the western territories of the Emerald Folk. For generations, the family lived, traded, and allied alongside the Emerald Folk, adopting local customs, martial styles, and trade networks. Because of this unique historical path, very few members of House Marius are culturally Reman. Their lineage is a diverse melting pot of Dawn Landers, Emerald Folk, Norse, and continental allies who joined the household over centuries of migration.
The Settlement at New Rome & Mount Marius: Eventually, House Marius migrated eastward from the Emerald glades toward the borders of the Reman Republic, establishing a powerful estate and political power in New Rome. From there many cousins and extended family members traveled to the lands of the Alliance of Dawn Lords, and using their wealth established the Chateau and stronghold of Mount Marius. From this ancestral seat, House Marius acts as a key diplomatic bridge between the Imperial Reman Republic and the free Alliance of Dawn Lords, balancing Reman military discipline with Emerald Folk heritage.
Roster of House Marius: (Listed from historical records, family charters, and database entries):
Brannith Marius: Duke and Patriarch of House Marius. A veteran Leader, marshal, and master swordsman. (In-game: Orion Steel, Level 7 Reman/Spear Fighter).

Aragorn Marius: Second son of Brannith; tournament fighter and warband leader.
Reynaud Marius: Half-brother of Brannith and Gedrian; renowned knight and champion of the Tournament of Chivalry.

Vampire Court of Lullin (NPC/Monster Household)
The Ancient City of Lullin and its Twilight Descent
In the northern reaches of The Western Continent, upon the icy shores of the Northern Ice Sea, stands the city of Lullin. Founded long ago by the late-arriving Emerald Folk, its narrow, winding stone streets and grand, carved facades evoke the majestic architecture of Renaissance Edinburgh upon Earth. For centuries, Lullin flourished as the preeminent northern trading port of the continent, a vibrant, cosmopolitan hub where Emerald Folk, Norse trappers, Reman merchants, and Dwarven smiths gathered under the mild summer skies to exchange goods, furs, and crafts. Yet, this era of maritime prosperity was forever shattered in the year 8218 of the Dwarven Calendar. When adventurers failed to secure the elemental stones, the cataclysmic Night of Unmaking choked the sky with a permanent Ashen Cloud, plunging the city into eternal twilight. In this dark hour, the ancient, lurking shadow known as the Vampire Court emerged to claim the fallen city as its sovereign, blood-soaked sovereign seat.
The Lineage and Lords of the Immortal Court
At the apex of this dark aristocracy sits Duke Guaicaipuro, rumored by scholars to be the oldest vampire upon the Western Continent and perhaps the original sire of all vampiric bloodlines in Shiandria. Born in the 1560s as heir to the Muisca Cacique on Earth, Guaicaipuro witnessed the slaughter of his son by Spanish conquistadors before being pulled from the sacred, gold-dusted waters of Lake Guaitavita by the dead-eyed sire Arias Carreño. After centuries of roaming Earth, amassing immense wealth in Spain, and traveling through Ireland, Guaicaipuro and his chosen consort, Duchess Forlaith, a woman born in 1670s Dublin who embraced dark immortality to escape a life of urban poverty, crossed a northern gateway portal into Shiandria over eight centuries ago. Together, this ancient pair built an unshakeable powerbase upon the Western Continent. Their immortal Court in Lullin includes powerful thralls, minions, and dark lieutenants, such as the once-reputable merchant Lady Isadora Aethelred, whose mind was twisted into a grotesque mask of paranoia prior to the burning of the Temple of the Morrigan, and Governor Cairbre Ó Gallchobhair, a beloved unifier of Emerald Folk lineage whose mind was bound to the Duke's will as a devoted thrall to execute the Court's political designs.
To expand their sphere of influence, the immortal Court welcomed other formidable nobles into their inner circle. Among them is Baroness Elara Alda-stjarna, a centuries-old vampire of Norse heritage who hides her true, predatory nature beneath the guise of a breathtakingly athletic young socialite. A patron of equestrian sports and fencing, Elara wields charm and fascination as deadly weapons, delighting in emotional manipulation, seducing mortals, and seeking out promising souls to groom for her coven. Beside her stands her consort, Marquess Cassius Thorne, a handsome Dawn Lander noble who inherited his title at a suspiciously early age. A relatively young vampire of a few decades, Cassius is a master deal-maker and socialite who possesses the uncanny ability to smell a person's deepest weaknesses and ambitions. Beneath his composed, charismatic facade lies a creature of strategic cruelty who orchestrates grand political schemes, shattering the allegiances of mortal parties and feeding upon their inevitable downfall.
The Court's reach also extends through powerful thralls, minions, and dark lieutenants. These include the once-reputable merchant Lady Isadora Aethelred, whose mind was twisted into a grotesque mask of paranoia prior to the burning of the Temple of the Morrigan, and Governor Cairbre Ó Gallchobhair, a beloved unifier of Emerald Folk lineage whose mind was bound to the Duke's will as a devoted thrall to execute the Court's political designs.
The Tragedy of the Crimson Harvest
The absolute dominion of the Vampire Court over Lullin was sealed during the historic atrocity remembered as The Crimson Harvest. For two centuries, the Crimson Harvest had been a cherished, peaceful seasonal festival celebrating the heritage of the Emerald Folk; yet in 8218 DC, the festival was turned into a calculated slaughterhouse. Organized under the outward pretense of law by Governor Cairbre, the special court commenced with the symbolic execution of the Midnight Carver, offering the citizens a false sense of security. In Duke Guaicaipuro’s shadowy absence, Baroness Elara Alda-stjarna and her consort, Marquess Cassius Thorne, seized control of the proceedings. Supported by the dark paladin Captain Thorgrim and Lieutenant Lady Isadora, who hermetically guarded the city gates to ensure no resistance could bloom, the Court prepared its trap. When the notable scholar and alchemist Mister Alistair, compelled by the succubus Nymtyse, consumed his Beast potion and launched a furious assault, the signal was struck. The noble attendees cast off their mortal disguises and revealed their horrific vampiric natures, transforming the court into a massacre where blood spilled out into the streets of Lullin, claiming the Battle Cleric of Clan Gren among their very first victims.
The Foes of the Shadow
The bloody betrayal of the Crimson Harvest sent shockwaves throughout Shiandria, forging unyielding adversaries who vow to see Lullin liberated from the Court's grip. Chief among these mortal opponents is the famed Reman war hero Lucia, who fought valiantly against the Court's bloodthirsty agents during the massacre before being surrounded and slain. When news of her death reached her husband, the Norse champion Thordic Strongfellow, then campaigning against the ancestral Jotun in the far North, he abandoned his war without hesitation. Bound by relentless devotion, Thordic braved the shadowed gates of Lullin itself, reclaimed his wife’s body from the clutches of the Court, and bore her to a sacred Temple of Jupiter in New Rome, paying a steep, unknown sacrifice to divine rites to bring Lucia back from the grave. Today, Lucia and Thordic remain two of the Court's most formidable mortal enemies.
What is a Household?
A household is a group of players. This group could be based on a theme, such as “all pirates” or “all Dwarves”. It could be based on no theme at all “just a bunch of friends that like each other”. For this group to receive official perks of the royalty system in the Dawn Lands LARP game they must pick a Liege Lord.
The household can refer to itself in any way that it likes, a “Clan”, “temple”, “free company”, etc.
Households are not legally part of the Dawn Lands LARP and the Dawn Lands LARP takes no responsibility for their actions outside of the game. Inside the game they may get special recognition, with admin approval can be put on event schedules for their own activities, such as a tournament for household members only. A household could have a uniform, a flag, and even their own campsite.
Most importantly, with approval of the admin a household could perform a role within the Dawn Lands LARP game. A household could run a temple, or take up the role as the town guard for an event, or could hire themselves out as a mercenary group.
A household still must abide by party size when going on a quest. A party size is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5. The “normal” number is 3 players per party, so encounters that have 4 or 5 will be harder and encounters that have 2 players will be slightly easier. If a household is larger than the party size limit then they may split up into multiple smaller parties.
Liege Lords of households will be responsible for helping the administration spread important information to players. The Liege Lords will also be responsible for helping admin with things like updating players character sheets and updating any player information.
The big “take away” about Households is that they are created and administered by players, but get perks from the official game organization.
Guilds
Are organized according to profession, area of study, or duty. These mirror real life guilds in modern times and in history. Guilds can be organized by the Dawn Lands LARP administration or by players but must adhere to certain rules.
Guilds do not receive perks from the Royalty System but they can be integrated into the continuing story of the Dawn Lands LARP. This also means that Guild members may be needed to perform special duties or tasks during events related to the Guild’s role. With permission from administration a Guild could even set up special quests or related activities.
Guild members could belong to a Guild and Household. The governing body of a guild, or its leader, would determine the criteria for Guild membership. Titles, organization, and all other related considerations are up to the leader or governing body of the Guild.
Orders
Official Orders can only be created by the Administration. One example would be the Order of the Mule, which is given to players that help run the Dawn Lands LARP game. Households can create their own orders but these are something that they recognize internally and have no direct bearing on the Dawn Lands LARP game.
Membership in an Order is usually gained through service, a special deed, or an act of altruistic behavior (such as Bravery or Sacrifice).
A player could be a member of multiple orders. A player could also be a member of multiple orders, a household, and a guild.
