The Samurai typically come from the Red Sun Empire culture where they usually serve a lord, a Daimyo, or Emperor. However they are sometimes seen on the western continent as adventurers or warriors in search of a new home.
Playing the Samurai
The Samurai is a very powerful class but has some limitations. The Samurai starts with Level 2 (Medium) Armor, a wide selection of weapons, and the special ability to destroy others weapons. The Samurai can quickly move up to Level 3 (Heavy) Armor and can use bow and arrow. If you want to play a versatile warrior class that is at its maximum potential when wearing armor, but can function well without it, then this is the class for you.
Abilities:
Armor Allowed: Level 2
Weapons Allowed: Dagger, Knife, Stick, Club, Bow and Arrow, Wakizashi, Katana, One-Handed Mace, Long Spear
Level 1
Weapon Destruction: Must be called out and lasts until the target opponent’s weapon is struck. Once struck, the weapon is unusable. The struck weapon must be repaired by a Smith, forge, or a high enough level Druid before it can be used again. This ability can be used once per day (1x/day) and can be renewed.
Katana Master: You gain +1 damage when using Katana or Wakizashi.
Bow and Arrow Use: Three arrows per day (3x/day). Can be renewed by a Smith, forge, or a high enough level Druid.
Dual Wield: You can dual wield a Wakizashi and Katana.
Samurai Code: Must serve a lord or else lose the abilities of Weapon Destruction and Mounted. The lord you serve can be of any culture, level, or class, but you must serve them to the best of your ability. This lord could be a player or NPC. If you ever flee from combat, you lose all of your Samurai abilities permanently. You may work to regain them through a special quest.
Level 2
Mounted: May cross river obstacles at no cost. May carry one party member at a time.

Cultural Ability
Level 4
Improved Armor Training: You can now wear Level 3 (Heavy) Armor.
Level 5
Improved Katana Master: Your weapon damage bonus with Katana and Wakazashi increases to +2.

Level 7
Master Samurai: You gain the rank and title of Master Samurai. You no longer have to serve a Lord to maintain your abilities. At the start of each event you gain 10 GP from taxing your lands. You may take up the service of other lower level Samurai.
Crane Stance: This ability must be called out clearly for all to hear. You go into your special fighting stance and gain +2 to APR but lose -3 from all your weapon damage. Lasts until the end of your next encounter, battle or duel, or until you choose to cancel it. This ability can be used three times per day (3x/day) and can be renewed.
Level 8
Shield Destruction: You must call this out before the strike. Once called, if a strike against a target shield succeeds, that shield is considered destroyed and useless. If the strike misses the ability remains until it strikes the shield or if you voluntarily end the ability. While this ability is in effect you do not deal damage as normal. This ability can be used once per day (1x/day) and can be renewed.
Level 9
Cultural Ability
Level 10
Daimyo: You gain the rank and title of Daimyo. At the start of each event you gain 20 GP from taxing your lands. You may take up the service of other lower level Samurai and Master Samurai.
